The town is surrounded by Kolasib Block towards North, Mamit Block towards South and Darlawn Block towards East. The town of North Kawnpui was founded by Chanchinmawia.

It is a major tourist place in Kolasib , and the tourist love the pollution free environment here.
Regional Research Station: It is also another important tourist spot here. It is an informative centre and the Research Station deals with the research of rubber.
